Retaining wall planter constructed by Millennium Landscape
How to Know When You Need a Retaining Wall:
- If you have a slope greater than 2:1
- If you intend to change the existing grade and the slope will become unstable or eroded
- When your wall is failing
- When you need a gathering space
- When you live in an environmentally critical area
Retaining walls create spaces that wouldn’t exist without a flattened surface. Patios, gardens, driveways, seating areas, firepits, stairs, and outdoor kitchens all benefit from the flexibility retaining walls provide.
Retaining walls can also purely be aesthetic, they add visual hierarchy and textural elements to the garden.
Choosing the right contractor
Make sure you choose a contractor who can collaborate with an engineer to ensure your retaining walls have structural integrity and will stand the test of time. Too often, retaining walls fail due to improper drainage, excessive load, foundation issues, or inadequate design.
Millennium Landscape offers design and installation services for a wide range of retaining wall types, including concrete, stone veneer, steel, boulders, dry stack stone, timber, gabion baskets, and modular block systems.
